The Beginning

The term "Suburb" has been used since the early 19th century.

-Meaning: an area having economic ties to a nearby city, but is outside that cities' limits.

Movement started before the Great Depression, but was ended when economy fell.
After WWI and WWII citizens wanted out of the cramp cities.
Agents sold already built homes.
Federal Housing Administration(FHA)- sold homes for low-payments and low-interest.
Veterans Administration(VA)- Helped veterans find better lending rates and long-term mortgages.
FHA/VA made home the most afforable they've ever been.
